these downpours that are continuing to move on through. right now, near diehl, southern anne arundel, near shadyside and coming into calvert county out of southern prince george's is the cluster of thunder and lightning. that's quickly moving across the bay. wider view showing the rain is tapering off quickly to the west and cloud cover will begin to break up later this morning but not until late morning. we'll be in the low 80s by 10:00. then by noontime a little sunshine breaking out and into the mid 80s. look at your drive time forecast next weather and traffic on the 1s at 6:11. we are working to find out when the brown family plans to for bobbi kristina brown. the only daughter of the late whitney houston died yesterday. she was 22 years old. singer dionne warwick who is whitney houston's cousin called brown a good girl and said she's in a much better place. back in january, brown was found

unresponsive in the bathtub of her atlanta home. it is unclear how that incident happened. in fredericksburg today, a murder case is going in front of a grand jury. fredericksburg police say that vander briel killed grace mann back in april. police say vander briel and mann were roommates. multiple other roommates that he confessed to the killing. a grand jury in fairfax county will hear from prosecutors about a controversial police shooting. county police officer adam torres shot and killed john geer two years ago. torres claimed that geer appeared to be reaching for a victim. the county paid the family nearly $3 million to settle the civil lawsuit this year. investigators are working to find the murder weapon in a deadly stabbing. the county sheriff's office says a man stabbed a husband and wife at the anna prayer counseling center last night. the husband died.

his wife is in serious condition at the hospital right now. according to sheriff's deputies it happened during prayer services. they say multiple people called 911 yesterday including the suspect in the deputies arrested him. they say he was staying at the center for at least five days. it is not clear if he knew the victims. the sheriff's office has not released his name. today recovery crews will continue to look for the body of doug brown. he and his brother daniel went missing near cove point light station on friday. daniel's body was recovered over the weekend. the brother along with daniel's son jason were swimming when the tide changed friday evening. the three tried to swim against the tide but became overwhelmed. jason was able to make it back to shore. today we expect virginia governor terry mcauliffe to nominate judge jane rauch to the state supreme court. her face may be familiar to some of you. she presided over the most high profile cases that includes the

trial of lee boyd malvo. if you drive in fairfax, virginia, the warning period for the red light camera is now over. the camera is on the eastbound side at plantation parkway. you know how it works by now. they snap a photo of your plate during a violation you will receive a notice in the mail. the city has put up signs to remind you. 6:03. today you will see buses rolling in and out of the silver spring transit center but not because it's finally open. the bus drivers are beginning training today to learn how to navigate the entrances and exits. derrick ward has more. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, again. well,s we're up on bonn afont street in silver string, but if you were looking at it from colesville road you will see it's elevated. think of it as a big spiraling parking ramp. this is all about getting bus drivers ready to navigate this structure. now, it was actually started

california. four firefighters hurt battling some fast moving flames in northern california. we are told one of the victims is in serious condition and right now, that fire in the sierra nevada foothills is only 15% contained. at least 40 homes are under a mandatory evacuation but up to 200 homes are considered at risk. firefighters are concerned the wind will shift today and drive those flames back south. if that is the case hundreds more homes could be threatened. firefighters rescued a dog in fairfax county from a burning home. take a look at this scene here. firefighters say they saved the dog from this fire at a house in west springfield on carly parkway. it caught fire last week.

you can see they saved a very appreciative dog when they responded to the scene. now this is all video that came from the firefighter's camera. which was mounted on the gear on the helmet part. they saved this dog and they rescued two dogs. one though did die the next day. a third dog died in the fire. the house was a total loss. coming up on 11 after 6:00. i want to get you caught up on the forecast. we both came in with umbrellas. raining a little bit when we came in. >> yeah. let's check in with storm team 4 meteorologist tom kierein. we're having some rain. >> there's a live tower camera looking off to the east. the cloud cover is breaking up but it's raining south and east of the metro area. the rain is beginning to taper off in prince george's county. getting some moderate downpours thunder and lightning. southern anne arundel right near diehl and into northern calvert county. that's moving right across the bay and that's going to be heading to easton and cambridge

continues to spread. police saying that this all started after a relative was assassinated at the event. and then the two sides began fighting. now, eun we'll keep an eye on this story as we get word of another attack just north of where this happened. >> all right angie thank you. 6:15. louisiana's governor now says that the man who killed two people at a movie theater there should never have had a gun. john houser killed two people and shot nine others last week. he had a history of mental illness. however, the gun he bought, he bought legally last year. bobby jindal is calling for states to get tougher on gun laws now. houser's brother spoke to nbc. >> you know, when you're dealing with mental illness which we have been dealing with with for a long time, you know, there's no clear answer. >> rem houser said his brother was going through a divorce, however there was never a reason to believe that houser would kill anyone. today, the victim of another

mass shooting will be laid to rest. marine corps gunnery sergeant sullivan was killed earlier this month. sullivan will be laid to rest in massachusetts near his hometown. you're looking at his wake there yesterday which hundreds of people attended. this morning investigators are trying to figure out what led to a fatal boat crash in the waters near baltimore. the boat slammed into a concrete object of some sort just about 50 yards from the key bridge which takes the baltimore beltway over the river. two women were killed. sixth others were injured. that happened about 3:00 yesterday. investigators in st. mare's county are looking for alan rangel. he is accused of shooting and killed cody lacey on saturday. the deputies already arrested burks-jeffrey and braithwaite. they're accused of being accomplices in this murder.

right now, we're working to find out the condition of two men who were shot in hyattsville. prince george's county police said someone shot the men on hubbard road yesterday. one of the men had life threatening injuries. however, we have not receive an update from the police in 24 hours. firefighters in prince george's county are trying to figure out what sparked a fire at a vacant house. look at some pictures posted on twitter. as you can see it's pretty intense there. that fire started yesterday morning at a home along walters place. this is in district heights. took about an hour for crews to bring the flames under control. that house is a foreclosure and has been on the auction block since march. a man is free on bond this morning after being arrested for leaving a baby locked inside a hot car for at least 20 minutes. this happened on saturday on north market street in frederick, maryland. the baby was covered in sweat and was who at to the touch when firefighters opened the car. the car's ignition was off and the baby's guardian, 44-year-old

ismaila blay is charged with child neglect and confining an unattended child. there's now a memorial outside of a bloomingdale restaurant as neighbors mourn the loss of one of the owners. doug brown was co-owner of costa brava on first street. people are stopping by to leave candles and flowers. neighbors say it was the pride of his life. one neighborhood leader said brown had a warm spirit and high energy. right now, president obama is in ethiopia meeting with that country's prime minister. the two are discussing a number of issues including counterterrorism, human rights and regional security issues. president obama is the first sitting american president to visit the east africa nation. later on he will convene a meeting on the crisis in south sudan. ethiopia is the final country the president will visit. today the boy scouts are expected to make a major change. they're voting on a proposal to allow gay men to become scout leaders. they'll vote to bar

discrimination based on sexual orientation. the organization lifted its ban on gay youth in 2013. milwaukee police on lion alert. over the weekend there were several reports of a lion -- lion sightings in the suburbs. people having a cookout said they spotted a lion and its cub walking around. last week, a woman caught on camera a lion walking around the neighborhood. police have been patrolling the area with tranquilizer guns at the ready. but the local zoo said it's not one of theirs so possibly it's a wild mountain lion or it could be somebody's pet. it is legal to own an exotic animal in wisconsin. so maybe -- >> i'm going it on a limb, a lion wouldn't make a great pet. hard to take care of. >> cute when it's this size. when it's -- you know? >> i can't imagine. they get hungry a lot. >> and they will eat whatever is around to eat.

2 1/2 to 3 mile backup at this point this morning. in -- crash here outer -- new crash here at the outer loop wisconsin avenue, all the yellow approaching that area this morning. 95 south at quantico, still have that crash. seeing slowdowns there southbound. northbound here okay. until you hit the dale city. northbound at dale city. 295 southbound at 50, a lot of red here this morning. jammed coming in. we have a couple of different crashes we're dealing with there on 295. and slow through the hyattstown and germantown area. nothing happening there. that's good. 66 inbound about 45 miles per hour. overall, prince george's county no major issues. back in ten minutes. a possible serial killer may have died at the hands of a potential victim. police say a sex worker shot 45-year-old neal falls in self-defense at a home in charleston, west virginia earlier this month. the two met online and investigators believe falls may be responsible for other prostitute deaths in nevada and

ohio. an investigative team from ohio is on its way to charleston no look into the possible connections. today, vice president biden will make a big announcement. the vice president along with andrew cuomo expected to announce upgrades to new york city airports. last year biden said visiting laguardia airport felt like walking through a third world country. the las vegas hotel pool deck that caught fire over the weekend is already back open. you can look at some cell phone video of the fire at the cosmopolitan hotel. a bar on the deck and some guest rooms are still closed. two people suffered from smoke inhalation. both are expected to make full recoveries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. a number of high schoolers are trying e-cigarettes. one-fourth said they tried them. nearly 10% admitted to using

them regularly. it is double the numbers of teens who smoke traditional cigarettes. half of the teens don't think that e-cigarettes pose a health risk. some "news4 your health" that will have a lot of you moms out there nodding. a new study shows some moms are receiving information that may not be the same as they get from their doctors. this was a survey of a thousand new moms. the moms say they didn't hear enough about important topics like pacifier use and the safest sleep positions for the babies. that 25% said that they heard stuff from the media and about vaccines that was different from what their doctors said. well, the next story is pretty incredible. a 600-pound man is biking across america to lose some weight and get his life back on track. eric heist started the journey last month in massachusetts. he has a trailer attached to the bike that carries all of his essentials including the tent he uses to sleep in every night. now, the indiana man hit a bump in the road last week when both

on trails around loudoun county. what sheriffs deputies want you to know this morning. but first we are tracking some storms at this hour. a line of thunderstorms that are moving out of the area. but you can expect more storms on the horizon. storm team 4 meteorologist tom kierein here with your hour by hour storm timing. >> yeah, here's the wider view showing that the thundershowers are near cambridge and easton, now continuing to track east. a few lingering light showers in calvert and st. mary's. the northern neck getting some moderate downpours and those are continuing to track off to the east. and through the rest of the morning they'll be dissipating. hour by hour, by 11:00 or so noontime, sunshine breaking out. then by 2:00 showers in the is central shenandoah valley and coming farther north closer to the metro area around 4:00, a few scattered thunderstorms around 4:00 or 6:00 p.m. after that they'll begin to they do move on through after

seen this man -- five people have seen him wandering around the area with no clothes on. we are in ashburn farm parkway and golden meadow circle. a little trail you can see the guy jogging. that's one of the spots where people have seen this man. you now. it shows all of the locations. ashburn farm parkway and golden meadows circle is one of them. that's where we are. a -- claiborne parkway is another one. most recently, kay road and ashburn road and louisa drive. the man was seen walking -- that was around 3:00 and 4:00 in the morning. he was seen walking with no clothes on. so the sheriff's office says this is what you should do when you're out particularly jogging or biking. let someone know where you're going. also -- these are just you

murder and dui and leaving the scene of a crash. a howard county woman in the hospital. a truck into her apartment. it hit her once it got inside. howard county police put out the photos of the scene in elkridge. they say that mynor monterroso was trying to back out of a space when he hit a pole. he then drove through a sliding glass door and hit marilyn schmeits' apartment. that's according to police. officers arrested monterroso and charged him with driving without a license, negligence driving and failure to control the car. this morning the search continues for two florida teenagers who are missing at sea. 14-year-old austin stephanos and perry cohen were last seen buying fuel before going fishing on friday. search crews found their boat capsized 67 miles off the coast yesterday. the coast guard is tweeting this morning that the search area now covers 26,000 square nautical miles. today senators will be back on the floor to deal with the must pass highway funding bill in a rare weekend session yesterday, lawmakers fought it

there which has a lot more. >> last weekend, seven cars and trucks were set on fire. another fairfax county neighborhood. police did make a few arrests in that case. detectives say it's not clear right now whether the two cases are connected. if you live in fairfax county, police are again warning do not leave your car unlocked. last sunday and monday police responded to more than two dozen car break-ins. thieves took items from unlocked cars near huntsman boulevard and if you live nearby and you have surveillance cameras check for any unusual activity. also don't leave stuff in your trunk. well, the smithsonian is over the moon that they needed only five days to complete their first kickstarter campaign to preserve the space suit. smithsonian hopes to restore it full display by 2019. because the online campaign continues through august 19th, museum officials have upped the
